I grew up in very small town in Central Massachusetts in the forest or what we called the woods. With a brook and waterfall running through our property, farm animals, gardens, berry patch and fruit trees nature was my playground. From these formative years I see the foundation of my designs are steeped with my connection with nature.
College years led me to Durango, Colorado, more for my love of skiing than my marketing degree.
Once graduated I was off to Denver to find a “real job”. I found a fit with a national company as a sale rep designing and selling landscape installations, working with large hotels, office buildings and malls. Approaching the age of 30 I felt a desire to start my own business but landscaping was not my calling.
Now living in Grand Junction CO, I had been making candle holders out of wine bottles to illuminate my back deck and was asked to show them in a local art show. Everything sold!! During the show I was asked to produce more for a new restaurant and asked to make the copper bar. I quit my job and the rest is history.
I guess I have to learn how to weld and all the other stuff!!
Feeling behind the curve I choose to dedicate my time learning through mentors and anyone who would share with me the talents of metal work. That year, 2000 I made my self a copper ring and married my self to the craft.
I’ve been saying yes to building beautiful pieces for people ever since.
Relocating to Oakland CA in 2005 to expand my skills and be around more artists has provided me relationships that shape who I am now.
